NGO means non-governmental & non-profit organization but it works to grow up villagers, disadvantage, minorities and disabilities people and their livelihood through the education, training, communication, placement of enterprise, involvement of community development and other many ways. There is so many NGO’s working in the Nepal to develop the community and nation but NGOs doesn’t have grant itself, It do request to the many others International Organization and country for the financial support and work to expand the community under the timely monitoring by funding agency as well as Social welfare counsel of Nepal government and local government as well. The NGOs are working verities of area such as public health, community development, capacity building, drugs trafficking, agriculture management, animal health management, HIV & AIDS etc. and really it gives quite good output and finding satisfactory way in the working area.
Nepal is the small and very beautiful country but its unable political situation makes very difficult to develop continuously and 10 yrs back internal war was broken lot of assets so it has been running on the very critical situation even though NGO play the vital role and contributing the endlessly. At the war time, all of the government service provider offices were shifted to the capital city from the remote at that time NGO’s continuously serve there and make them motivated to work there in own place.
I am very much impress with some NGOs like, Naulo Ghumti Nepal - working about drugs rehabilitation, HIV prevention, Capacity development, Harm Reduction, and Female sex worker as well. It works around more than 14 districts all over the Nepal. I was also a staff member of Naulo Ghumti from June 3, 2007 to Oct 31, 2010; as an admin & finance supervisor, during my service I found that organization is very professional to archive the goal and objective through the community service. Addition, that organization provides the employment opportunities to the target group (drugs user, People living with HIV & AIDS, drugs user’s spouse and children and others). There is around 40 staff from the target group and they shared their back bitter story before connecting with Naulo Ghumti, really that was so darkness as I am normal people I can’t imagine that till end of my life. Most important thing is that, When the Naulo Ghumti works for the HIV prevention through the Harm reduction program supported by UNODC, really it works finely and the result and output has been positive. Before the program HIV increasing rate is around 23% but after the Harm reduction program by the Naulo Ghumti the rate has been decreased to 3%. It is the most valuable role played by the Naulo Ghumti in the Kaski district so that it is known as reputed and expertise human resource available NGO as well as non-profit making independent organization all over the Nepal.
Similarly, CWES is another very fine and reputed organization, it works about the right of female sex worker in the Kaski district. CWES make them aware about free sex, knowledge about the HIV & AIDS, Hepatitis and other sexual dieses as well as motivation to change them occupation from the sex worker to others suitable business and job. For that, they have organized the stakeholder meeting and searching the predicted job holder’s and business firm for the job placement. Moreover, they are working with other collaborating partner and recommendation to the various vocational training, such as beauty parlor, tailoring, housekeeping, business enterprise and many more. So that such types of NGOs play the vital role to develop the particulars group’s capacity enhance.
Currently, I am working in the Animal Health Training & Consultancy service (AHTCS), it is also a non- profit making and non-governmental organization located at Ramghat, Pokhara and it works to improving the living standard of marginalized communities through partnership with national and international organization and agencies. AHTCS works for the benefits of its target group in the area of animal health, husbandry and equine welfare. The ATHCS make them lifestyle difference through the livestock management and livelihood enhancement via agriculture practices. Generally, AHTCS product the many village animal health workers by VAHW training and sent them to their own place for the serving animal health service in the remote area and they can grow up their income through the livestock management. AHTCS provides many others training like as Goat rising, Pig rising and Poultry farm worker as well what contribute to product the large no of self employment as well as involvement in the service. It helps to enhance the co-operative from the small group of saving and make enterprise to the group members. Addition, AHTCS working about disaster management for animal and provide the (Live stock emergency guideline) Legs training to the others NGOs, government body, local people and need base assessment. Furthermore, AHTCS work for the animal welfare and friendly behavior with animal at the time of caring and providing service and it has a special working equine welfare project supported by Brooke, UK, it works more than 15 districts all over the Nepal. Equine project works for the equine welfare and equine owner’s depends up on the equine service income for the better livelihood. Consequently, AHTCS works almost all over the Nepal for helping people to make a difference that means positive changes in the community as well as nation.
In short, it’s all above mention NGOs are the sample of Kaski district even though there is lot others still working for back many yrs. These three NGOs play the important role to the community so why not all together. That’s why NGO play the vital role to develop the Nation and governmental should support as well as collaborate to work and to develop the nation the lets see after few years small Nepal will be the much beautiful than Switzerland. Isn’it???
